Taylor Swift SHATTERS Spotify AND Apple Music Streaming Records with ‘Midnights’ Album

Published: Saturday 22nd Oct 2022 by Sam

Taylor Swift is living up to her Pop titan status with her newest album ‘Midnights.’

Because while some acts see excitement wane with each release, the superstar’s trajectory is delivering quite the opposite.

Particularly on the streaming scene, where the 32-year-old is breaking records with her tenth studio effort.

Full story below…

The set, which was executive produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, has smashed the record for the most streamed album in a single day in Spotify history.

Trumpeting the news, the global streaming leader wrote:

Reacting to the news, Swift said:

“How did I get this lucky, having you guys out here doing something this mind blowing?! Like what even just happened??!?!”

While over on Apple Music (which, with its heavy weighting, is a vital factor on deciding the US charts), ‘Midnights’ broke the record for biggest first-day streams for a  Pop album:

Ever the savvy marketeer, Swift released a standard 13-track edition of the LP and followed with a special “3am Edition” featuring 7 additional tracks (making 20 songs in total) on streaming platforms.

*******

Suffice to say, Miss Swift is off to a turbo-charged start with what is shaping up to be the year’s biggest-selling album launch out of the gate.

“Midnights received widespread acclaim from music critics, most of whom praised its subdued production. On Metacritic, which assigns a normalized score out of 100 to ratings from publications, the album received a weighted mean score of 88 based on 16 reviews, indicating “universal acclaim”.”

“In rave reviews, Rolling Stone’s Brittany Spanos and Variety’s Chris Willman lauded the album’s songwriting, production and concept. Spanos declared Midnights an “instant classic”, while Willman praised the musical chemistry between Swift and Antonoff. Admiring Swift’s “intimate” songcraft, Neil McCormick of The Daily Telegraph lauded the melodies and lyrics of Midnights, and regarded the album a “turning point” in Swift’s career. Lucy Harbron of Gigwise called Midnights Swift’s strongest reinvention and “darkest” work yet, praising its experimentation, introspection, and sonic evolution. American Songwriter critic Alex Hopper described the album as a “rich listening experience” and “1989’s grungier sister”.”

“Elise Ryan of Associated Press called the album a product of Swift’s maturity and artistic evolution, commending her “sharpened” vocals and experiment with a “dark, electric” soundscape. Billboard’s Jason Lipshutz called it “a focused, legacy-extending” album, propelled by “razor-sharp” lyricism and “amorphous” compositions. Paste critic Ellen Johnson said Midnights has Swift’s “sleekest pop tunes yet”—”something much more muted, nuanced, calculated, cunning and pulsing” than mainstream pop music. Paul Bridgewater, writing of The Line of Best Fit, felt Midnights tries to balance experimentation and commerciality; he dubbed it Swift’s most cohesive work lyrically and thematically but “underwhelming” sonically. Carl Wilson of Slate said it is her first album other than Folklore “that has nothing notably bad on it at all”, with minor criticism towards some of its lyrics. The New York Times critic Jon Caramanica felt that Swift played safe in Midnights, returning to familiar sounds.”

She’s indeed a master manipulator lol i feel sorry for Alwyn. And all her ex’s. She fools you into falling in love, gets to know you, plays with your feelings, dumps you and plays the victim then writes about it lmao. I love Kim K for exposing this vile snake. And i love that she had depression and eating disorders in ‘Anti-Hero’ it proves she’s sad about what she does to others for money & fame lmao

    #OVERRATED

Artist like T. Swift take the fun out of watching artist have ORGANIC success. Instead of the MUSIC selling the project, every album will be successful because of the NAME/Stans alone.

    T. Swift should have fallen off long time ago. The “i can do know wrong” should not apply to weak entertainers like Drake and T Swift, whom make basic boring music with 1 good song every 4 years.
